  • Yes, a bioprocess can be competitive in different ways: cost efficiency, sustainability. It can outperform its conventional competitors, product lifecycle, or meeting market demand for new products. 

    For products that are hard to find, manufacture or extract, it offers a more efficient production method. Additionally, it enables the production of biodegradable products not accessible through which conventional chemistry.

    Regulatory compliance is a crucial part of the equation. With a bioprocess, you can meet or surpass environmental and safety requirements.

    All those elements should be studied in detail before starting the development of a new biobased product. The first stage of your collaboration with Abolis will be to study the business case in depth, before starting any development.

  • If a microorganism produces a molecule already existing in nature (in plants, animals, etc.), the product is considered natural by the main authorities (US, EU). According to current regulations, if the product contains less than 10 ng/g of recombinant DNA after purification, then it is considered GMO-free.

  • Our expertise extends beyond replacing your current process for a given molecule with a bioprocess for the exact same molecule.

  • We do! We have created a business unit dedicated to Microbiome, it’s called “Microbiome Studio” and the entity is based in Paris, Station F, the “world’s biggest startup campus”. Microbiome Studio is a software solution able to decipher the microbiome and to build themetabolic maps of the ecosystem. 

    Going far beyond simply counting microbial species, it explores the metabolic pathways and the interaction of the species. The applications are numerous, including everything fromhealthcare, food and agriculture to cosmetics and beyond.

  • If you don’t have in-house fermentation capacities, there are several options. If your production does not need large volume, we can help you finding the right contract manufacturer.

    If your production volume is significant, you may benefit from building a workshop or facilityin your existing plant or at a location close to the feedstock. You may also consider partnership with dedicated installations in an existing factory.

  • We are “Industry Oriented”: we consider industrial constraints, including IP, at the project’s outset. 

    Choosing the right strain for the objective is crucial, utilizing our collection of strains or external banks. We build the proper industrial Scale-down. To ensure Free to Operate (FTO) and commercial use, we use rational design to build the strain producing your molecule or protein.
